Nearly six years ago, Ronja Corum, owner of Puddle Jumpers Daycare, started her childcare business. Driven by a dual purpose—to address the pressing need for childcare in her community and to stay home with her own children—Ronja combined her knowledge and passion to create a nurturing environment for children to grow and thrive.
“I saw the need for childcare in my community and wanted to use my skills to help children grow to the best of their abilities,” Ronja shares.

With dreams of expanding her daycare to serve more families, Ronja joined NDWBC’s Childcare Intensive program last year. This 12-week course blends group learning sessions with personalized coaching, covering critical topics like financial literacy, leadership development, and strategic planning—all designed to empower childcare owners to expand their capacity and help meet the growing demand for quality care.
“When I first heard of NDWBC’s intensive course, I was excited to join. From the very first sessions, I realized it offered much more than I expected,” Ronja reflects.
The program not only equipped Ronja with the tools and knowledge she needed but also fostered an invaluable sense of community.
“Beyond the lessons and resources—which exceeded my expectations—we built a deep connection as a cohort. We could relate to each other through the highs and lows of operating childcare businesses. These women were inspiring, brave, and amazing, and I’m honored to have been part of it.”
With the support of NDWBC and her peers, Ronja has streamlined her operations, allowing her to focus on what she loves most: the relationships she cultivates with the children, parents, and grandparents in her care.
“Family childcare is more than just a job. It’s a privilege to welcome families into your life. My clients become part of my extended family, and that’s something I’m incredibly proud of and grateful for.”
As Ronja looks to the future, she’s armed with the skills, community, and vision to grow her business and continue providing exceptional care for families in her community.
